Blaine’s head cocked to the side slightly and he blinked at Lilah. He noticed the way she was scratching constantly. He assumed she just had a rash. “You might want to put someone ointment on that rash. It’d help…” He took the last sip of his coffee and chocked a little at the abrupt change of subject. Puppies. How did she even come up with that? “Um, yeah, puppies are cute. My family has one. Max. He’s a black lab. 12 years old. Um… I actually like most animals if they’re not rabid or anything!” He smiled and pushed his cup to the edge of the table. He had a habit of forgetting his cups were empty and he always tried to continue to drink.
Lilah felt her heart stop when Blaine noticed the scratching, but , thank God, he thought it was just a rash. “Oh, I’ll do something about it when I get home…” obviously, by “home” she meant “NYADA”. Aaand one more embarrassing silence. Ok, so maybe it was time for them to go.
“So, we both finished our coffee, I’m ready to go”. They got up and walked to the door together, still in complete silence. Lilah started saying goodbye, even wishing they could stay there forever, just staring each other. But that would be kinda weird, right?

Romance novels… Blaine almost laughed. Not that that was a bad thing and that he was judging, he just… didn’t expect that. At all. Blaine had never read a romance novel before, so he wasn’t sure exactly what the appeal was in them. “What do I…” Blaine sat back in his chair a bit and looked up at the ceiling, thinking. “I like to perform too. I really enjoy school.” He smiled and looked down at the coffee table. “I guess I’m weird for enjoying school as much as I do… but yeah. Um, I like to just hang out, really. My best friend lives in Chinatown and sometimes we just stay in and watch tv eating tons of ice cream. It’s great.” He smiled brightly and looked at her. “And then spend time with Kurt. Which I haven’t really gotten to… do. We’ve only seen each other once in over a year, but that means nothing because I’m so head over heels in love with him…” His smile got smaller but definitely didn’t disappear when he talked about Kurt.
Lilah couldn’t help but get a little sad when Blaine said he was still in love with Kurt. She knew nothing was going to happen between her and him, but it’s not like she could stop this kind of thoughts. The brunette ignored that horrible feeling, and just kept talking, when that itchy on her fists started annoying her again, and she began to scratch it, doing everything to hide it from Blaine.
They spent a little time without talking, and it was getting embarrassing for both of them, so Lilah decided to say something. “I like puppys. They’re cute. When I was about 12 years old, my parents bought one, his name was Yankee, my dad chose it.” I know, weird talk. But try staring at Blaine and don’t think about a lost puppy.

Blaine eyed Lilah, wondering if he should go further, but he really didn’t feel like discussing it. He hadn’t even discussed it in detail with Kurt. The only people that knew were him, the guy, and Tawni. He sighed and looked down at his cup. “No, it’s okay. There isn’t much to talk about. We ‘dated’ and then he bailed.” He frowned slightly and and tapped his fingers against the edge of his coffee cup. “Lilah, what kind of things do you like to do?”
The way she way she had her head in her hands, and the way she was clearly paying extreme attention to him was nice. He shifted in his seat and smiled. He really liked when people paid attention to what he was saying. Yeah, he could definitely see a good friendship here.
Lilah knew that there was much more than just a common breakup going on with that guy, but if Blaine didn’t want to talk about it, fine. When he changed the subject, the girl was a bit surprise with the question. I mean, all of sudden he just asked her what she liked to do, and she had to stop to think about it. “Hm, I like performing, as you know, reading romance novels…” it was a lie. Lilah hated those movies and books whose story is basically “they love each other, they fight, they regret, they kiss and everyone gets happy”. It was so unrealistic! In real world, we see nothing but pain and blood everywhere… Delilah never believed in happy endings, but she obviously couldn’t say that, so she just crossed her legs and completed the sentence with “That kind of thing”
She had already finished her coffee, but it wasn’t enough to leave Blaine. She loved having him around, even when you could actually feel the awkward. Some rude costumer took Lilah away from her thoughts, practically yelling with the waitress that his coffee wasn’t satisfactory. The girl decided to ask the brunette in front of her the same thing she had just answered: “And what about you? What does Blaine Anderson like to do in his free time?”
